Edward Saugstad

About the author

Edward Saugstad / 'Sir Ed Word' Writer/Artist/Musician/Carpenter https://edwardsaugstad.com Edward was born into a musical family in Vancouver, Canada, in 1958 (mother and oldest sister sang; father received his masters diploma in violin; and all eight children studied piano). He was the only family member to enthusiastically draw and write from an early age. Some of his childhood works included wall length murals of dinosaurs, the Greek gods and realistic scenes from India. In his youth he became a master drummer and continued his creative writing and illustrating. (Age eighteen in the mid-1970s he worked out on the Canadian Prairie and in the Rocky Mountains repairing old railroad track, where he learned much about himself and his potential while living in the wilderness. The same applies to his three trips to India in the 1980s.) In the 1990s he opened a handicraft shop with his wife in Vienna, Austria, where he did professional picture framing for customers, and greeting card designs and texts. In 2008 his first two children's books were published (written and illustrated under the artist pseudonym Sir Ed Word) and in 2012 his first adventure book for young readers, with colour illustrations. Limited editions of some of his illustrations have been sold in exhibitions that he participated in with his internationally recognised artist wife, Brigitte Saugstad, in Italy, Austria, Canada, Cyprus and the UK. https://goldenganeshart.com
